howdy I have a 1985 hunter 22'. Yesterday I broke my last shear pin on my honda bf5 5hp outboard. I don't have a honda dealer near by to ask and the manual doesn't specify replacement shear pin size. Does anyone now the shear pin size for this motor? thanks shawn

Shawn. Take the prop and the old center piece of

one of your sheared pins to the local welding shop or auto supply store. The prop pin channel will give them the total length for a new pin and the center piece pin scrap (or any piece of a pin)will supply the diameter. If you don't have an old piece then drag the motor down. Just BE SURE to lay the Honda down on the proper side so the oil does't leak out. They should have some rod or stock that will work in place of a pin. Ray S/V Speedy The cost should be less than $5.

Try West Marine or Boaters world to mention two as those folks have an assortment of Shear pins that may help you. Have you tried Honda on the internet? Crazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzy Dave
