Realized the winter storage slip I'm in is too shallow (checked at low tide, stuck in the mud). Of course going to speak with marina however for various reasons not so confident they'll move it.

Obviously not a good situation and if a must I'll figure something out.. However how much is the potential for stress/damage??

Not likely there will be any damage. Years ago had the boat, 4 ft draft, in a low tide winter slip that would tip the boat to one side. The main trouble was tilting into the rig of the boat in the next slip tilting my way. The second trouble was not being able to get out or in at low tide.

Usually if the bottom is soft, as it usually is around our area, there isn't so much risk. I had several boats in a slip that would ground on low tides, as did many other sailboats in the marina. Sometimes on really low tides they would list over. No damage or leaks occurred in my boats (I did leave that marina when I got the 356). The keels tend to nestle into the bottom and create a hole. If there a lot of waves or boat wakes I could see a concern. I have some pics from film (Not jpg's yet) that show some extreme low tides. We all lived.

Thanks all, good to know. Almost certain soft and location is very protected.

I have a parts boat in my back yard that was damaged from a shallow slip. The swing keel was left down and during a storm beat on the bottom to the point there was a leak at the pivot . The boat sank at the dock and was left for a short time. There would have been no damage if the keel was up. We have a local lake that the water level is dropped in the winter and boats are high and dry with no damage.

protected marina? or lots of waves and wakes? I know someone with boat that bangs on the bottom when boats go by... that can't be good.

Kiss the anti fouling paint on the parts of the keel that get into the mud or sand goodbye.
