Shaft seal and bearing

Does anyone know the prop shaft bearing and seal type for a 1977 8.3 Columbia?

8.3 Shaft Bearing and Seal

I have a 1977 8.3 also. The owner's manual simply says the stuffing box is for a 3/4" shaft. The bearing seems to have come with the stern tube. The manual says Stern tube W/Bearing - Tube 1 1/2" OD, .125" wall, bearing 1 1/4" OD for 3/4".

What about an 8.7?

What does the manual say as to cutless bearing size for a 1977 Columbia 8.7? The shaft I have appears to be 1" diameter. Also does your manual say anything about how the cutless bearings were originally installed? I am especially interested in whether or not they used set screws to hold the bearing in place. I have done a fair amount of rough disk sanding and haven't found any yet.
