I own a 1979 34ft Irwin Citation. I need to fit a new length of neoprene hose which connects the shaft log to the stuffing box. First thoughts are that it should be a simple task, but further consideration whilst trying to sleep conjures up more problems - Is it a 2 man job? How do I get the new hose over the shaft with all the bits on? Will the shaft pull enough through the cutlass once the stuffing box is disconnected? The thought of disassembling the whole thing fills me with uncertainty. Has anyone attempted this job on their own boat? I would very much appreciate any advice on this subject. Hope you can help, Regards Popsy.
