Anybody had to repair a broken shaft log. On my catalina 3O its thin fiberglass extends about 2 inches inside hull. Bottom section broke making it a trickey fiberglass repair (inside and outside diameters can't change much).Any good ideas would ne appreciated.

I dont understand

I have a 77 Cat 30. The stuffing box is connected to a hose section that is connected to the hull fiberglass. Where is tha shaft log? Excuse me if I am not using the correct terminlolgy on these parts. Im kind of new to this area of discussion. Is the boat on the hard so you can look at the bottom? I might suggest that you contact the factory for advice. I understand they are very helpful.

shaft log

The shaft log is the fiberglass stem your prop shaft passes through. Its covered by the short piece of hose and 2 clamps, the other end has the stuffing box and 2 more clamps creating a watertight seal, unless you break it like I did.

Now I understand

Thanks and holy cow!. yep, I would want a pro to fix something like that also. I guess the factory can give you some guidance and maybe suggest a repair person. Good luck Regards John
