Mike, You will have to disconnect the shaft coupling And slide the packing gland and hose off the shaft. If for any reason the shaft were to get away from you you would be in a world of hurt. A quick haul will give you time to get that stiff thick wall hose re installed without the possibility of things going bad quickly and also a quick trip to a marine supply house will get an exact match for the replacement. You should also take the time to re-allign the shaft and transmision flanges after you replace the hose as this will more than likley change after re installation.
