I have undertaken a project to replace the cutlass bearing. I have found lots of good information on the removal of the bearing and reinstallation. My problems are in that the set screws in the coupling for the shaft are seized. (1985 C30). In fact in removing one I stripped the head off. I have applied generous amounts of PB Blaster. I do have an oxy torch but fear doing unseen damage.
Are there any other options in removing the coupling?

Usually winds up in a shaft cut. This is most often the safest way as once you get the set screws out you still need to get the coupling off the shaft. New shaft, new coupling fitted & faced and away you go...

Of course if this is just a cutlass bearing replacement pay the yard to use a press or Strut-Pro tool to get the bearing out. It will be less than the cost of a new shaft.

Thanks for the reply, I am pursuing the second path you suggested. Does anybody know of a reputable shop in the Detroit area?
Are there any of the Strutpro devices for rent?
