shaft bracket

need some direction on removing thie broken bracket it has 3 screws on each side. Does anyone know if these are nuts some were after of the diesel? if so how do you get to them.

I have a bent shaft and broken bracket , rather not talk about how this came to pass for now

My 30 is a 78, if you remove the quaterberth wall/bulkhead you can get into that area of the boat.

thanks I think the nuts are under the plate the muffler sits on so i should be albe to reach frome there.

What is your plan after removing it? Seems the company that makes and supplies those, Dahmer, has gone out of business. Hopefully it can be repaired.

thanks for the photos. The bracket broke right in the middle so I hope it can be repaired. If we are not happy with the brazing job I am thinking of adding a plate on each side to reinfore the bracket? But first I have to get it off.

I think you mean the strut.

The shaft runs thur the strut to the prop.

The strut should not be repaired it should be replaced.

take the old strut out. remove the prop and leave the shaft in place. Any good prop shop usually can get a strut made up for you. If you cant find one locally use General Propeller in Bradenton florida. send them the old one and they should be able to make a new one from the parts. try not to bend or beat on the old ones.

The process to install it is much simpler with the shaft in. you can slide it up the shaft from the back and bolt it up.

Then you will need to realign the engine.

where are you?

The prop shops can also do shafts. It is important to have the shaft made to match the coupling on the forward end and the prop on the back end.

So if your going to order this stuff get it all from the same place.

they will make it fit.
