I have been having problems with the cutlass bearing being sucked up into the shaft on my 1999 O-321. The OEM was a rubber sleeve held in place by two set screws taped into the stainless steel sleeve. This past March, when the orginal sleeve migrated up towards the engine, I replaced it with a bronze (outside)rubber (inside) over the counter cutlass bearing which again was held in place with the two wet screws. At the end of August 2003, it again got sucked up into the tube completely out of sight. This time, we threaded the end of the bronze sleeve and added two more set screws now totaling four in number. Beneteau factory has never heard of this problem. Anyone else having problems? If not, have your diver check frequently when he cleans the bottom. That is how my problems have been spotted.Jan Meermans
