No manual for this shafer furler, but the turnbuckle is inside the aluminum tube above the furler drum. We have taken the set screw out above the drum, and it still won't move. I am thinking it should slide up to expose the turnbuckle, as it shows in a small blow up on shafer website, but not enough detail. Does anyone have one of these and what is the trick? Need to tighten up the forestay on this furler. Thank you for all help, J.

It should slide up

Maybe it is binding somewhere, you cant get anything from the manufacture?

been there.

I asked the same question about mid may. Can't find the thread in archives. Anyway, I had to figure it out for myself. I had the manual but it was not a lot of help. Use a spare halyard to pull your mast ahead and take load off the foil and drum. I had trouble getting the setscrew/pin in place because the whole tube was too low. From what I can remember, I had to unscrew the two halves of the drum and then with the setscrew out, I could move the tube up far enough to get at the turnbuckle & clevis. Or maybe I pulled the tube & drum assembly down and off. I did get at the turnbuckle though. My boat has an adjustable back stay so tension didn't matter too much. If you can hold off until Saturday I will be at my boat. I will have another look at my manual and my furler so I am reminded. I will get back with you. You can email me at kinny@planet.eon.net. Ken, thanks. I have been going round & round with this, liguid wrench, etc the top set screw does NOT want to budge, I can try your method, but the forestay furler is very loose. So it does 'slide' up to expose the turnbuckle? Thanks again, J.
