Cal 39 vs Cal 40

How does a Cal 39 stand up against a Cal 40?As a cruiser? Is your Cal 39 a Hunt design?

Cal39 faster than Cal40

Hello anybody home?? Cal 39 faster than Cal 40?? Have you heard of Ralhie the Transpac winning Cal 40? I have photgraphs taken in the cockpit of Ralhie showing all the instruments on the base of the mast including the large knt meter readout. It shows from 12.8 knts to 20 knts at times. The boat stayed over 12 knts most of the time and was nearly a day ahead of the next boat. If the the big boats (60' 90') who started later had the the same 24 hrs of calm off Catalina as the small boats (40'-50') did earlier, which included the Cal 40's, Ralhie would have won 1st overall. Unless you want to give up your boat, I wouldn't suggest you race Ralhie for pinks. That goes for other transpac Cal 40's as well. I didn't see any call 39's up there in front.

That would be "Ralphie", the Cal 40 transpac winner not Ralhie.
