What size line would be best for gennaker sheets on a 35' for cruising and club racing. Thinking about Samson Ultra Lite 5/16" rated at 2900lbs. The alternative is to go to 3/8" rated at 4,400. Any advice would be appreciated. Will be used in light to mod winds.

Most sail makers recommend 2X boat

length for your sheets. Personally I find those too long and go with about 1.75 of boat length.

What is the load rating of the blocks?

The larger line is easier on the hands. both are stronger than you and a two speed winch.

Go small ....

For light to moderate conditions definitely go with the lighter weight 5/16" .... especially for 'real light' the lighter weight will be much better for a better 'set'. OR you can consider to to use the heavier weight and have the core or cover removed in those sections that you wont be 'handing' the line, the thicker section easier on the hands and somewhat better friction/contact on the winch. With small dia. sheets be sure to also choose a line with the least amount of stretch.
