Been there done that advice.
We have a 411 and a seven month old. Any thoughts on setting up a cabin and also where baby should be while sailing?
We took the bench seat next to the pullman berth and made that the babies crib first 2 years using the door grate system to keep small children out of another room. Installed with 4 screws and loocked in tight in less than 30 minutes. Pull the backrest support off and the shelf behind it, because when they grow up in a year or two you will want your cabin back
I still have the setup if you are interested.
Second got a second set of salon cushion uppers and pad 1 of the aft tricabin rooms for when she/he grows a little more.
third bought a baby carrier with seat platform that we strapped into the companionway and we were able to keep her out of the sun with the dodger and bimini. In addition she had two sturdy wall protecting the baby on each side even while heeling. She was in the best place in heavy spray and only got a little wet once when a wave flooded through the opening where lines run back to the cockpit. Very rare and probably a little to heavy weather for most families.
Third get a baby bejorn. that allows you to sail with the baby right next to you also.
Netting all the way around the boat making it a large play pen. 8 years latter still not taken off the boat due to the dog and now the 8year old daughter worries the dog may go over board if we do not have it.
I think that covers my advice.
If you need further recommendations I can try to help.
