My 1985 O'Day 35 with a Universal M25 diesel is now my full responsibility to care for after 7 years in charter. So I am learning about filters, belts, impellors, etc. Question: Can anyone tell me the proper replacement part vendors/numbers for the following? I took the part numbers below from the Universal owners manual. - Oil Filter 300209 (West Marine says Fram PH3592A) - Fuel Filter 2988854 (West Marine says Fram P7514) - Water Impellor for Orberdorfer 4 screw cover 295628, gasket 295626 - Water Impellor for Sherwood 6 screw cover 287439, gasket 295745 - Alternator/water pump belt Question: After several months of dead batteries and non-running, I got the engine started the other day. I ran fine for 5 minutes and then the oil buzzer sounded. I suspect a bad sensor or buzzer, but am unsure. What are other possible causes? What should I do first? Where would I connect an oil pressure guage?

M25 Parts

The Fram oil filter PH3592A is what I use on my motor so you should be ok with that. They are also available at wal-mart so don't get ripped off on price. I use a NAPA Gold (I think 3900) fuel filter. Check with a NAPA store, my info is on my boat. I get this at an auto parts store. www.torresenmarine.com has all the parts lists for the motors, control panels, etc. and you can buy mail order for whatever you need. They are not cheap but it's a real good web site with lots of information. dave

Wrong web address

Sorry, the web site for torresen is www.torresen.com Or you can search on yahoo, google, etc. to find it. How do you like your 35? I really like mine and have had many great years with her. Make sure you check and change all the hoses periodically. I had the vent hoses from the cockpit lockers which are hard to get at disintegrate (they go to through hulls above the water line). When heeled this was a real problem hard to diagnose. The starboard side requires removal of the quarterberth bulkhead to get at it, a real pain in the .... dave

Try Kubota Too

Kubota Diesel produced the "Universal" engine in my '85 O'Day 35. (You can find Kubota blue under the Universal gold paint.) Major engine parts (filters, injectors, etc.) can also be obtained from Kubota tractor dealers.

Ditto

Everybody's responses are on the right track, I have an M25 also. Kubota part numbers for the oil filter is 15241-32093 (3)(039), Fuel filter is 7000-43081. You can plug right in to Torrensens site by entering key word "Universal Diesel". They have a great web site with just about every bit of information that you would need on the M25 and an easy to understand ordering process. Good luck.

Thanks for good answers

Dave, Jon, and J.B.: Thanks for the answers to my questions. I found the Torresens web site to be especially useful. I still wonder about the oil pressure. Where can I attach a pressure guage or line to a guage? Jay
