You've probably noticed some flakey behavior from our server lately... lots of slow page loads, or perhaps a timeout or even off line for an extended time. For about the past three weeks we've been struggling with a condition we still haven't able to diagnose the problem. It may be that increased seasonal traffic and new features are simply overwhelming our setup. Some time this weekend we will be installing a much more powerful server with faster drives, plus a clean software install. While I can't say exactly when this will happen, figure we'll be down for a half hour (which, of course, means two). Thank you for your patience during this pain in the butt. ph.

I thought it was just me and my paranoia. ;)

I would write a thoughtful post or a tongue firmly in cheek post and the system would S***can it. Thanks for trying to save my feelings. ;)

Oh no, Ross, it wasn't the

tongue-in-cheek stuff, it was your efforts at spelling-police! :):):) Good try, though! Remember: your hear all the time.

It must be done now

I checked in a little while ago and the page took a zillion minutes to load. Just checked back and smokin' fast.... in fact the fastest I've seen any forum load. :D ;D Thanks Phil.... keep up the good work!!!

Well, it's not really a slowdown...

Without going into too much detail, what you're experiencing as a slow page load is actually the server locking up, the lockup being detected, and the server software relaunched. The cycle takes about 1-2 minutes. But when it's running, yes, it really is fast.

Phil, Thanks. Even though this site is worth the wait,

We take it for granite when it is running at speed. When it is not, we know you are running at speed.:) That must be what keeps you so slim! As always, much respect for what you are providing! r.w.landau
