Serial number

My serial number is xdyg 1327 m 80 b. Does that mean it was the 1327th made?
It is a 1980 25ft, so I assume the 80 is the year made but I do not know what the m or b mean. And finally would 1327 have been the mail sail number? And finally my O on the mainsail has faded. What was the original color of it and can one purchase one like it? Thanks to
anyone who might have the time or inclination to answer this rather long message.

As for color, mine is kind of a faded blue, never know the original color. The last 4 digits are usualy the sail number as well. Not sure if the number is incremental or not.

Interesting. I just looked up my hull number. I've got a 1979 O'Day 28, but the hull number shows model code 'D' (Daysailer) instead of 'N' (O'Day 28). Hull number is 0022, so it was one of the early models. Was the 28 originally part of the Daysailer line?

G = 25
1327 = Class#, yes that means you have the 1327th 25 built (in theory)

M80 = 1980 Model Year

B = month code for when the boat was built, B= September and for the 1980 model year, it means September 1979 (Models Years ran August to July, so 1980 Model year ran August 1979 to July 1980).

No, the "Daysailer" Line (Not to be confused with the Day Sailer) in 1979 was as follows; O'DAY 12, Widgeon, Javelin, Day Sailer II, and O'DAY 19 (a few MARINERs were built in 1979 while the 19 was being phased in). The 28 was part of the "YACHT" line (28, 30, 34, 37). The CRUISERS line was 22, 23, and 25.

Interestingly enough, the HIN for my DS II doesn't have a model code within the 12-digits, because sometime prior to the 1979 models, O'DAY built DS #10,000 but only had room for 4 digits in the class#. So, my HIN has the "D" added on after the 12th digit, XDY10201M79E-D
