Don, In keeping with your suggestion thought I'd post the photo of my boat a friend took the weekend of the 11th. In addition to the small national ensign on the backstay I also flew a large "First Navy" or "Rattlesnake Jack" from the topping lift. This flag is red & white stripes with a rattlesnake and the motto "Don't Tread on Me". It is reputed to be the first flag flown by the Navy in battle and always flies from the Constitution and the oldest commissioned ship. Since 2001 the Secretary of the Navy has ordered it flown from all ships for the duration of the global war on terrorism.

Margret Shippen Arnold

Was Gen. Arnold's great demise. It was is wife that was actually paid 500 pounds annually by the crown until her death and it was she that lied to Washington's face. Benedict was already long gone at that point. He never"adjusted" to being a British subject. BIGGUMS, During the French and Indian War, Arnold was not given credit as he was "colonial". He was instrumental in that war as Washington was. Many, including Washington, were ignored because they weren't British officers during the French and Indian War. It was so called "colonials" that kept the British from getting their butts wooped by the French. During the Revolution, some of that politics again came into play. Arnold wasn't colonial aristocracy. Washington politically screwed him as well - great couple of books on both: His Excellency: George Washington, and Cokie Roberts book on Founding Mothers. Further Margaret is the granddaughter of Edward Shippen, founder or Shippensburg, PA.
