Winter wet storage on Cape Cod. I am seriously thinking of wet storage this year to enjoy the boat as early and as late as possible. I have so many questions and concerns. How many of my fellow sailors do this practice and what should i expect.

Lake Erie winters. . . .

are worse than North Atlantic winters. The fresh water freezes early and thick. Still we have liveaboards in our marina, probably three or four boats close together. Three or four bubblers keep the ice away and probably only run twenty hours a week. Since the boats all have a heat source they do not winterize. If you plan to leave the boat without heat you will want to winterize the engine and head each time you use them. You could winterize the water system once and leave it dry until warm weather.

I alternate wet/dry

This year I'm on land. Last winter I bubbled it. Remember seacocks can not be winterized in the water. Everything else is the same. This year I need to paint bottom so i took it out. Either way I take my mast down each year and inspect. But that is another topic in itself. Good luck
