Seneca Lake Sailing

I'm planning to spend a week or so cruising Seneca Lake this June. I've searched the web and haven't found much discussion of the lake as a cruising ground. We'll be putting in at Watkins Glen but want to make our way to Geneva on the north end. Are there any marina's around midpoint? Is anchoring and overnighting a problem? I grew up in the area, but haven't been back in quite a few years, and I have never sailed the lake before. Any feedback from Seneca Lake veteran sailors would be great. Thanks, Dave O'Day 222

Seneca Lake

Dave , there are only a few marinas mid lake . Sampson state park on the east side is a possible stop over . at the Geneva end you can dock at the ramada inn docks or the chamber of commerce or at the state park in the canal just off the north east end of the lake.Have a blast and don't forget to make time to visit all the wineries all around the lake. the lake is very deep at the southern end but there are a few isolated spots to anchor but be sure to pick a spot that will protect you from wind from both directions as the wind kicks up quickly and shifts daily .
