If you're in a marina, make sure you spread the word that your boat is for sale. Just today, I heard that a friend in our club sold his Catalina 30 to a guy who had a Cat 27; the Catalina 27 was sold the same day, so both boats went to buyers within our yacht club. The sellers avoided paying brokers, never even listing their boats. Plus, the buyers bought boats they'd seen at the marina for years, saving the overhead they would have paid to brokers. Win-win.
