As a wannabe surveyor I offer this

Do a google search on the words: "Catalina 22' sailboat for sale" and check some of the listings that come up. Some of the ones I looked at were above $5K which sounds a little high to me for a final price but those were offering prices only. You do not offer any pictures or the condition of your boat or any of the equipment that comes with it so it is hard to put a price on a "22 foot sailboat" as described. You can figure this out for yourself if you check out other peoples similar boats for sale with similar equipment what the asing price should be. It could be a good idea to get the boat surveyed before trying to sell it if you think it is in good condition overall. Advice is cheap.

Newspaper

Check out the San Diego Union classifieds, especially on Saturday. Or any other publication in your market that has multiple listings. The greater number of listings, the greater the liklihood of selling. It's a thin market, so you want to be in the thick of it. P.S. Don't overprice.

Post a Flyer

I made a flyer on the computer with a digital picture. I listed all of the items included with the sale and posted it on the bulletin board of a local marina. Within a week the boat sold, for the asking price. Timing was important. Sell in Spring, Buy in Fall.

Use This Web Site

I suggest that you list your boat in the 'Boats for Sale' section of this site. I did and quickly sold my previoius boat. The ad had an unbelievable number of 'hits.' Also use Boat/US 'value service' to get an idea of a fair selling price.

I'll second- use this site

I sold my boat here a year ago. What surprised me was the incredible number of hits on the ad in just a week, some 400. I feel like anyone shopping for a boat checks here. Sold it in about a month for asking price, being I had so much activity on the ad I saw no reason to lower the fair price. I also totally agree with the response- timing is important- sell in the spring and buy in the fall or winter. Good Luck- Mike
