Would you do that in a house? Really.
Old stuff is usually "grandfathered in", like fuses instead of breakers, etc.
If someone who wants to buy your boat insists on upgrades like that, either he's crazy or, if you agree to do it, you are.
If you've had the boat for a long time, then you've probably added things like fuses at the batteries and other things.
Even if you haven't, AS IS is a good way to start. If the new owner wants to upgrade, that's his choice.
It's like sails: 29 year old sails on a used boat...OH, NO!
Think about it as the BUYER as well as the seller.
There is NO "requirement" to do so, or to even think about it.
