Who out there has upgraded to self-tailing winches for the genoa? Whatcha got?

Contemplating upgrading the standard Lewmar 7s to Lewmar 14STs or 16STs. #1 question is are the mounting bolt patterns the same or do I need to plan on drilling? Thanks guys.

...yes, expensive, but well worth it.
Not sure about the hole pattern...
You can probably find the ST bolt pattern / dimensions online.

Self-tailers ARE nice, pricey but nice, particularly for short-handed sailing.

As tom h said above, the 14ST will be the size for the Capri 22. Current new CP 22's leave the factory with 14ST's.

Although if you found a deal on some 16ST's, they would be useable also, just an inch taller.
All dimensions are the same on the 14ST and the 16ST including the power ratio. Only difference is the height. They are built to metric sizes, but here are the nearest inch-equivalents from the Catalina Direct website:
Drum diameter: 2-5/8"
Base diameter: 4-3/4"
Power ratio: 15.8:1 (for every pound applied to the handle, 15.8 pounds are applied to the line)
Fasteners: (5) 1/4" flat head machine screws
Height (14ST): 4-3/4"
Height (16ST): 5-3/4"

And no, the bolt pattern left over from the 7's will not work for the 14ST's. The mounting bolts are the same: five M6 / 1/4-inch countersunk bolts, but they are on different diameter bolt circles. The 7's bolt holes are in a 80mm (3 5/32 inch) pattern while the 14ST's are listed as 94mm (3 11/16 inch) pattern.

Self tailers are definitely the way to go for single handing. Just remove your 7's, fill the holes, and drill new ones for the 14's. :)
