A 130 is reasonable. With good technique it can be tacked without undue effort. A 150 not so much. If done perfectly, and you'll need an AP to do it, it's possible. But it goes better with crew. I will argue that the time lost in cranking in the 150 is worse than the time lost with the smaller 130 or maybe even the 100. If you are sailing against current, which is the case on LIS, it's even worse. Nice crisp tacks - that's what I like.
I don’t use an AP when tacking, but I also sail on a (big) lake, so no currents to deal with…and no salt water either!

Beneteau Oceanis 46.1 La Spezia, Italy
Hi Stephen,
I am new here and I have a 46.1 too, in Italy. She actually was originally equipped with a self tacking Jib but I have negotiated to have the genoa too. Never used the self tacking again, loving the genoa also in single handed sailing. I am not a super expert sailor but I find the tacking easy with help from the autopilot. This year - third season - I decided to buy a (big) Code0 and I have had a great summer, sailing a lot in light wind instead of motoring.
How is it going for you?
