Self Locking Cleat - Product Review

Hey All

I ran across these at Gander Mountain so I did search on line. They are $35 a pair and made of marine grade aluminum. Does anyone know if they are any good?

Exactly my concern... I think it would be difficult to slimply pull and lift. The line is in a groove. It looks somewhat old fashioned in it's mechanicals. What size lines will it accommodate.... But, since you can't put your hands on it to see if it works why risk the money.. instead, here's a tried and true product that you know will work, for just a couple bucks more.

I notice it does not have a fairlead to hold the line in position over the cam. I llike a camcleat that can be operated 6' away from it by just snapping the line to release and pulling down to hold. From the picture it looks like the cam would have to be manually operated to insert the line. There is no mention of the size of line it can accomodate. Perhaps it can be used on some application but I would not use it for halyards nor sheets.
