How much trouble is it installing a roller furle?. Like a Harken oo flexible furler? I know I will need to get my head sail re-worked. I wonder if it worth trying it myself or having the dealer do it. The dealer is 3 hours away. Corky

Corky, The biggest thing to do is get your jib sent off to a sail loft to do the work. Have jib kanks removed, #6 luff tape added and of course a sunbrella cover sewn on and advise furling to port. I find the furling line to starboard interferes with the anchor lid. If you get the CDI, the biggest problem is unfolding the extrusion. Suggest three people and holding down to the floor when uncoiling it. You will measure the length of the forestay and cut the extrusion according to the directions. One thing to note on the length to cut. The top balck cap was tredesigned a couple of years ago and generally, I cut an additional two inches off so the top black cap will turn without it hitting the mast. It is the part that the internal halyard exits out that gets caought. Crazy Dave

Make sure the end cap spins freely of the mast head. I find that mine will hang up during rigging, I have yank the extrusion hard to free it from binding. If not, you could pop the forestay. Addtionally follow the instructions to the T. Use plenty of soap while inserting the headstay in the extrusion. It may not look like it will go but it will with some time.
