I am looking to purchace a new motor for my O'Day 25. I have a bracket that allows the motor to set into the water nicely. The motor that is on there now has a standard length shaft and I think that it does well. I am looking to replace it with another standard length shaft model. I just wonder if there is a real need for a long shaft sice I have this plate that allows me to lower the motor to a level that I feel is acceptable. What I am really looking for is an explanation of what application is a long shaft or extra long shaft motor truly needed.Does my 25 draft enough to warrant a long shaft?
