has anyone got any tricks to keep from destroying this rubber pad that keeps the sail slug feeder gate closed ? every time we haul out, we destroy the thing and have to install a new one... i see that catalina has a custom aluminum part that fits over the mast slide opening. i'm wishing selden would change its design and pay more attention to this part.

There a numerous places that sell mast gates. Look them up. Some are more sophisticated than others (and cost more, too).

crazy dave, selden does not talk to boat owners any more . their 'customer service ' 'press 2' for boat owners now says .... call your dealer... . I called 4 of them-- trying to order the replacement pads. they don't even bother to call back... (which does not incline me to try putting their new a s y m furler on...)
Dz: it's a custom selden mast engineered for harken batt cars. it's unlikely that any other mast manufacturer's off the shelf gate will fit .

That is unusual for Selden not considering customer service. That was much different when I was a dealer and my customers use to call and get service. Boy times have changed if that is the case not talking with customers. What about emailing first and of course a photo or two would help???
