Thanks for the post, In none of the previous posts did anyone mention the 45CC. We won't be back on ours till April but will check the serial number of the mast at that time.

I have a 2003 426aft (44) that MAY have this problem. I contacted Tom Sharkey at Selden Masts in Charleston with my concerns. He needs 2 pieces of information; the HIN number and the etched serial number located at the base of the mast. In my case the serial number is poorly etched and impossible to read. Tom took my hull number as a starting place and I am waiting to hear from him. If there is an issue Selden will take responsibility and replace the fitting. KUDOS TO SELDEN! If fact my boat is located in an area where a rigging crew may come directly to my boat to accomplish the 3 hour job while in the slip. (I'm told that the mast does not have to be removed to do the job.) This is possible because I'm apparently located in an area close to the Selden network of riggers. Tom also told me that there have been no fitting/mast failures on any Hunter. You should visit selden.com and click on the appropiate forestay fitting icon in the lower right hand part of the home screen for detailed information.

Sorry to say but here in Spain the Selden dealers we have managed to find have NOT EVEN BEEN CONTACTED. The dealers listed on the Selden site either do not exist or the contact details are not correct. Today we had a letter delivered to home in Spain, posted on December 21st notifying us of the possible failure saying not to use the boat. Well maybe its a good job we havent then. The letter included a self addressed envelope, addressed in N Charleston SC, Just how long would that take to mail back and what use is a USA stamp from here? Ours is a 45cc made within that time period we are planning crossing the Atlantic this year and need to move the boat soon. Wont hold my breath waiting for a reply or phone call. We are not amused at all even if our is not one of the affected boats, who knows what could have happend?

Ok its a week since we sent the details to Selden, just wonder how long this will take
