Selden main furling continuous loop

2007 Hunter 31 with in mast Selden furling system. My continuous loop slipped off the furling winch drum. The main sail unfurled just fine with the outhaul and the winch drum in "free" and the jam cleats for the loop released. When I went to furl the main the loop was laying on the cabin roof. Not sure how, why, or when it came off the winch. I was able to use the winch handle to crank the main back home with the lever in the "ratchet" mode. Can I slip the loop back on the drum or do I need to disassemble the unit somehow. The loop rope is original.

Thanks

It is very easy to put the line back over the furling drum. I've done mine a couple of times and it hasn't required any tools.

Feed the line in from the bottom left side of the drum. Turn the drum by hand and it should feed in. Make sure that when you pull out the sail next time keep a little tension on the continuous loop line so it stays on the drum.

I think this is caused by the line diameter shrinking as it ages and stretches.
