Selden Main Furler Problem

It appears that my Main Halyard Swivel is jammed into the locking tube just below the main feeder. I have no idea how this happened. Can anyone suggest a way to free it so that I can put my main on.

Don't be scared to use some muscle...

Spray the tube with some spray lube, then either use a rubber mallet and tap the underside of the part that sticks out from the mast. If your not in the mood for wacking it, grab the main halyard above the swivel and yank it up..

Calling Seldon

I haven't called them. I assumed they would be unavailable until Monday. I have been to one of their Web sites. I'll probably smack it with a hammar - it just makes me nervous. I also may try heat first.

i wouldn't use heat

there is plastic in there that could melt. Don't use a metal hammer, use a plastic or rubber mallet.

Update

Armed with the knowledge that it was jammed, confirmed on the Selden website, I gave it the old smackola with the newly acquired rubberized mallet ($17.95) and it separated. Thanks to all who took time to give their advice. I needed to get over my aversion to forcing things which was acquired via negative outcomes.
