The last line on my H38 to be replaced is the main sail halyard (did you know blow boats are made of string?!?!?!?!).
Its a Selden In Mast Furling and the halyard attaches to a car that slides up and down the foil inside the mast. The head of the sail then attaches to another shackle on that car.
Its the halyard to car connection I can't figure out. There's an eye spliced in the line, and there's a pin in the car through that line, that is retained with a cotter pin.
I removed the cotter pin expecting to be able to push the pin out just enough to remove the old halyard, connect the new, and reseat the pin. Everything has to be done through a little hole in the mast.
I can't get the pin to budge, even light tapping with a drift. It rotates, but won't move otherwise. Selden and Hunter's docs are less than enlightening.
Any ideas?
Pics coming shortly.
