Seeking O'Day 222

If you want to take a big trip, Joe's Trinkka is for sale. Well maintained boat, loved by one owner, makes many of us real, real sad… (Joe passed away. He was a stalwart on the forum.)

Looks like a great boat and a credit to its owner. I have in-laws in the area, but I still can't think of a good way to get it to the west coast. (Yeah, I thought of the Panama Canal, or maybe the Northwest Passage.) I hope it finds a good home in New England. I will continue to hope for a boat coming available somewhere between San Francisco and Vancouver, BC.
Uhhh…. have a shipping company put it on a flatbed truck and bring it out?
I know of several situations where boats get shipped back and forth. Have read accounts, but of course I forget all the names of all the companies. There have been some accounts posted at the Trailersailers.com forum in the past 6 months… Sign up over there and post for some advice. It's related to this forum, kinda a cousin site...
Well, I thought of that. I once asked Precision what it would cost to ship a P21 (comparable to the O'Day 222) from their closest yard in Colorado. I recall it was a lot, like a couple of grand. Not much in terms of the % of a new $35,000 boat, but quite a bit in terms of a used boat less than $5,000. Given that there is no hurry (we're just about to leave on a trip to Puget Sound with our Day Sailer), I will continue the quest for a west-coast 222. Maybe we'll come across one at some dock in Washington next week, and just sail away.
Talbot, there are cheaper transport options, in the $1300 range if I remember correctly. Unfortunately, I just can't remember any of them, though I've read about them. Do your research on line, and you may be surprised. And, keep in mind, there are a whole lot more O'days and 222s on the East Coast, and New England area, than West Coast, because O'day was up in New England…
