What's the best way to secure cabin sole plates. I need regular access so simple screws are not the best solution. Any ideas on quick release or quarter turn fasteners that can be flush mounted on the deck?

Stan, There is a good article in the Fall 2006 issue of Boatworks Magazine on this very subject. The guy looks like he has some serious shop equipment but the article takes you thru the steps. Good Luck, Peter

You just have to do the install. This is an important item to consider during capsize. Not only will the stove and reefer end up on the cabin roof but having the floor boards and seat hatches flying around can get even more dangerous. Like capsizing is not dangerous enough already. TRITIUM

Gravity can not be relied on in a boat

There are all manner on hatch locking, lifting handle, quarter turn, flush mount devises on the market for this need.

PYI - the people with the dripless shaft seal and maxprop feathering props have an anchoring system for floor boards which looks very good. The cost may sink the project however - try "pyiinc.com"
