Help if you can, with advice. I am planning to add (professional sail loft)a second deeper set of reef points to my factory 1998 full batten mainsail on my C320. I am unsure about the impact this may have on the single line reefing system, the dutchman flaking system, and or the sail handling in general. Will the full battens be in the way? will this harm the camber and function of the sail? How deep, How many inches above the existing reef points should I go? Will I be able to achieve a good ballance of sails with the head sail and a more deeply reefed main? If you have any knowledge of this subject i would appreciate you comments. Thanks

2nd Reef Point

Mine is in process over the winter so I don't have any experience using it yet, but I'll comment on some of your questions. My single line 1st reef will not be affected. My boom has a messenger line and internal blocks ready for me to run the single line 2nd reef. The Dutchman should be affected by the 2nd the same way as the 1st reef which to me means probably slacking the system and watch for over tightening of the mono lines. I just handed the sail to the Banks loft in E. Greenwich RI, told them I wanted a 2nd reef, and they gave me an estimate of $125. The reef point should fall between the first and second full batten and I'm trusting thier judgement on exactly where. Stan c320 #656

Ask the loft

They're going to be the most qualified to answer those questions. You might even call a couple different lofts to double check they're answers. Good luck! LaDonna
