Looks like Wilma has messed up my plans to launch next week in Fort Lauderdale. I may have to move it further north. Does anyone know of a marina or boatyard in the Sebastian Florida area that has a travel lift and a crane capable of launching a 35' sailboat and stepping the mast. Thanks

Can you get out of Indian River from Sebastian?

My future in-laws live in Sebastian, and we often visit the Sebastian Inlet when we are down in Florida. However, the Sebastian Inlet has a fixed bridge across it with only 30 feet clearance at MMHW. ALso, the Indian River in the Sebastian area is quite shallow in many spots. However, I am unfamiliar with other accesses to/from the area, so this warning may be incorrect. Nonetheless, Have you already verified available depths and a way out of the Sebastian/Indian River area if you do find a marina? There was one marina (don't remember name) which was pretty much rebuilt after being badly damaged in 2004, and is about half way between Sebastian and Melbourne along US Route 1. It did have sailboats in the marina, but not sure about sizes and if they transited into the ocean. Hope this helps...
