Seaward 26 T-Bar

I went out last week on a Seaward 26RK, not my boat so I'm not really sure what it's called but when the keel is lowered this T shaped bar came up in front of the mast. Problem is that the jib sheets sometimes got caught under the arms. Is there a solution to prevent this?

A picture of the offending T bar would aide in developing a solution. Perhaps you could build a cage to deflect the sheets from getting hooked on the TBar.

Practical Sailor did a write up on the boat.
They spend 2 paragraphs talking about the lifting keel.

I do not have the image of what you are describing. If the sheets are becoming wedged underneath, then there must be a gap open. This gap can be filled with a rubber pad to prevent the sheet from entering underneath.

Attached is s stock picture of the "T-Bar". Although not clearly visible in the picture, there is a horizontal round pin (white between the vertical blue lines at the top of the bar). I did think of a canvas cover that extends from the mast above the top of the bar to the deck. Attachment could be made using SNAD snaps. Just wondering if there are any other successful solutions.

Good photo. Make a box out of 3/8 starboard, more like a U shaped or 3 sides, and fasten on top of the raised area. The box should be large enough so that the T fits inside of it when lowered, may be walls 2" high. Will that work?

Thanks for the input JoeWhite. I will forward it on to the owner.
