Centerboard fell out. How does it attach?

well im new to this forum...and generally sailing as a whole(about two seasons) so there is alot more expertise on this forum to answer you...but if im translating right that your center board is a swing keel then the large hinge bolt broke or worked itslf out which should be really really visible..??..or is your center board a dagger keel which im not familiar..??...or am i way off base..

m8magic you are correct. It would appear without other information to the contrary, that the hinge pin, bolt, or bearing failed. The board should be weighted so it dropped. It should have a control wire or line attached to the trailing edge to lower and raise it so I hope he didn't lose it.

I bought a new board from the factory. It's a swing keel and a line must be attached to the trailing edge. The other end seems to attach to a track but only machined into the one side of the box/trunk. Don't see how it will stay. Wondering if this is a design problem. Think I'll call the factory.

OOps; now it sounds like you have a dagger-board that slides up and down in the dagger-board trunk. Swing keels and centerboards normally swing about a pivot point, while a dagger-board slides up and down on a guide or track.
If this is the case then perhaps there was no lower stop on the board and it was lowered too far.
To install the new one you will probably insert it onto the track and push it up into the trunk. there should be a stop fitted in place after it is installed to prevent it from coming off. If there isn't you should make one to prevent a reoccurrence of the prior drop. In addition you should mark the control line or cable to prevent you from lowering it too far.
