Try an automotive upholstery supplier involved in 'restorations' ... looks like the 'plush' velour used on 1970s era GM vehicles. Identify the manufacturer and then attempt a 'direct' purchase.

Contact US Yacht Cushions in St. Peterburg Fl. They may have a source for the material you are looking for.

If this is the fabric from the 80's that Ericson (among many others) bought by the hundred yard roll, it was phased out of production in '95.
It looks just like the fabric in our '88. I bought some more in '95 to have a cushion recovered, and got (so I was told) the last yardage available.
It's good fabric -- very high quality - soft and yet durable.
If it is back in production, that would be great news. It came in a burgundy and a dark green also.

I got a sailrite machine a month ago or so and have been sewing almost everyday with it. I was just wondering what you intended to do with the fabric you are looking for?

Tonights project was binding my saloon carpet. It was just a cut house remnant but now...it's a custom carpet. :D

If you were looking to redo some of the fabric but wanted to keep most of it, I have seen mega yachts that they use a different type of fabric for the backrests than they do the seats. May be an option.

That is the fabric in our Catalina 30, 1988. I love it, it really holds up, looks almost new in our boat!

That looks almost identical (maybe a little lighter) to what's in my 2006 Catalina 309. I'm pretty sure they're still using it for the standard upholstry, though many of the newer boats seem to have the optional ultraleather. You might want to contact Catalina in Florida and ask them for the source. Good luck.

edit - here's a picture

Thanks all. I am looking to buy a few yards in order to build custom V-berth extension backrests in the P-28. Of course if I have to I will use a different (but complimentary) fabric. But my original goal is to have the new rests look like they were "always there". Thanks Again. Peter

The Vberth pads were as project a few nights ago. The hideous yellow are what came with boat when I got it. I found this green and blue fabric for them. I am going to redo everything else in solid blue.
In a catalina 30 the vberth is hidden away like its a seperate room, yours is in plain site. I would probably try to match it exactly if I could in your boat.
