The bolts that hold the end-caps onto the heat exchanger for my Universal did not have anything under the head when I got the boat and I have used several different things to seal it with differing degrees of success. What do others use?
I use home made cork gaskets on the end plates. The manufacturer should have gaskets available as should any shop that repairs them. I've seen them in a multitude of materials, from rubber to leather.
I was able to buy new 3"ø rubber gaskets for between the HX and the end cap. I am looking for ideas on how to seal between the cap and the bolt. In looking at jssailem's kit it looks like maybe the rubber gasket should seal both the outer 3" edge and the bolt hole. I will see if the new gaskets stop the leaks.
