Hi all -- Does anyone know the differences between the Sealand 960MSD and the Sealand 970MSD? I have looked but can not find a contrast/comparison between the 2 units, other than the obvious physical differences. Secondly, does anyone know if the Thetford 365MSD can be used in all 3 modes, i.e., as self-contained, pumped overboard, and pumped out at a vacuum station? Thirdly, the manuals for the Sealand 960MSD and 970MSD claim that these Sealand models can be used in all 3 of the above modes, but do not explain how to do that. And, lastly, are there any quality differences between the Sealand and the Thetford units? I would really appreciate any and all thoughts and ideas.

SeaLand site seems to describe difference between 960 and 970 models...

If you still can't tell any difference, I suggest you call SeaLand and ask 'em: 800-321-9886.

All portapotties are self-contained systems. All "MSD" versions can be pumped out, dumped at sea (if plumbed do so), or carried ashore. Pumping out requires a line from the tank to a deck pumpout fitting. Discharge at sea requires plumbing to a below waterline thru-hull and a pump. Carrying the tank ashore requires a strong back.

There's no significant quality differences between the SeaLand and Thetford units.
