Gary, Following the advice found in several posts, I tested the seal on both the freezer and refrigerator on my new H380 using a dollar bill. To my dismay, the dollar bill slipped easily in several places on both lids. What is my next move? Get the dealer to replace the seals or just simply add some weatherstripping to the lip at the top of each box? Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks, Steve

May not be just the seals

I have a 1999 H380 and a dollar bill slid out easily when I first got it. I decided to kick the test up a notch and even tried a twenty dollar bill. It still slid out easily. Since that time I have had a professional add new seals and we are still having problems of it leaking air and producing much, much frost. We also changed the latches and now use a system that is found on Sabre boats with a turn latch on the top of the lid. Still having problems. I guess it is time to write Hunter. I suspect they know what the problem is. Wish there were recalls in the boating business.

gaskets

Les has a point. Make sure the lid fits properly as well. If it appears to be hinged properly, and the latch latches tight, replace the gaskets. You can try putting the weather stripping found in hardware stores (Thermal King, 3M etc)on the lid. Inexpensive and easy, but a cleaner and more professional way to go is to order a custom molded compression gasket from Refrigeration Hardware Supply or simular company. For about $20.00 they will mold a vinyl bulb gasket to your demensions. Refrigeration Hardware Supply can be reached at 800-423-2446. They will want to know the width and height of the gasket, as well as the demensions for the "frame".
