Seafarer ketch LaBelle
Just purchased a 1974 Seafarer 38 Ketch and there were no manuals or any info about her systems or anything. Having a time trying to figure where the water tanks are and some of the other things. Does anyone have any info? I have a feeling she is a sturdy sea kindly boat in need of some tlc with her systems. Seems to take the waves well.

I have a S29, which is completely different, but another S38 owner has recently replaced the fuel tank and mentioned that the fuel and water tanks are under the cabin sole. Apparently, the fuel tank is custom steel and is sandwiched between two custom made water tanks.

Another S38 owner who is currently full-time cruising on his S38 did not have to replace his fuel or water tanks when he purchased this boat a few years ago. There is a picture and drawing of the tanks on the Seafarer Yacht Group on Facebook.

Here's a link to original manufacturer info and photos.

Another good source of info is Sailboat Data.

I'm not sure if you realized the jewel you have purchased. The S38 was a Philip Rhodes design and also his personal yacht, which is still owned and sailed by his daughter. You have a real gem. Maybe a diamond in the rough, but a real gem.
Congratulations,
JN
