I'm very satisifed with the large amount of agressive, molded-in, non-skid pattern on my 05H36.

However, the cockpit seats make an unforgiving surface for my wife to sit on. Landing on one knee on one of these file pattern surfaces when leaping to tend a jib sheet winch quickly wears holes in the knees of my pants.

I'm certainly not going to trade a secure non-skid surface from which I step onto the cabintop's non-skid and to which I step back in exchange for a set of cockpit cushions.

I've recently come across a product called SeaDek ( http://www.seadek.com ) that is a non-skid closed-cell foam, with a molded-in nonskid pattern on one side and a self-stick marine adhesive on the other.

Its claim to fame is providing a foot-cushioning non-skid for long stints at the helm, and most of its web-site examples seem to be powerboats.

They (conservatively?) claim only a 3-to-5 year life, so it's no Treadmaster.

However, it comes in a 5mm thickness that would appear to be a far more comfortable seat than hard-surfaced Treadmaster. It would also appear to be more forgiving on the knees of my pants.

While it's available in yet another phony teak pattern/color, it also comes in a sober gray that appears close to the gelcoat on the molded-in non-skid of my side-decks.

Has anyone in this forum had any experience with SeaDek?

Thanks, Steve, but I had a very bad experience with cockpit cushions on my last boat.

When stepping/jumping onto one as a way-point in a frantic scramble to the cabin top, the cushion snap-button fastener broke from the sheer stresses and the cushion rotated out from under me.

I swore to never risk that scenario again. Hence my (until now) insistence on maintaining Hunter's excellent non-skid. Any alternative will have to be securely glued on top of it.
