:) Checking in...

I am alive but have not been well. Starting June 1st, my birthday to boot, I've had fevers of about 105 that would not break. Hubby and kids did not get sick and am very thankful for that because when mamma is sick the house goes to well you know. I've just been moving around slowly trying to get my energy back and trying to eat. As far as boat hunting goes.. we have run across several other boats and walked away or didn't give it a second look. The very good news is Hubby and Phil aka Nice N Easy are flying down to Fort Myers, Fla on the 22nd to take a look at the boat we have a contract on with a private owner. If all goes well with sea trial and inspection.. they plan on sailing her home the next day. This is a boat we thought we could have never have owned...she's that too good to be true. So we have been pretty excited about her. Its a one owner boat and he appears to have loved her and has taken care of her from the several conversations we've had with him. The only thing missing was the roller furler but we took the advice of someone's post and did not let that sway us. I am sure Phil will want to log the journey..I would love it if he did. We are so lucky to have him around. Once Hubby and Phil approve and everything goes smooth and they set course for Gulfport, MS... I promise to post pictures of her and her specs. Thank you TonyB you put a smile on my face and I missed the forum.

Glad you are feeling better. Buying a boat can be stressful at times. Its fun when looking, but not when serious about buying. It has always been exciting up to the point of putting down a deposit and waiting for the 'check-up' and closing. After its mine then I start to get jittery, wondering what I'm in for. So far, I have always been lucky. I have never got the super bargains that others have had the luck to find. I'm just happy getting a good boat at what I consider a ggod price. The boat I currently have, I bought in Tampa Bay area and when it was all said and done, it cost me about $3500 extra to sail it back to Kemah, Tx. That $3500 includes gas, motels, food and new bateries and misc spare parts to make the trip. It also takes into account several 2400 mile round trips in my car to, look at boat and put down deposit, having a closing after the survey and several trips to 'ready' the boat for the long journey. Once the boat makes it to you home marina, then its all worthwhile. Phillip is probably the best person around to help with the 'checking it out' phase and the bringing her home phase. After the storms, looking for undamaged boats has become quite a quest, so dont give up. In an earlier post, you showed the interior of aq boat with i think, chain plate problems, just out of curiousity, where was it located? Tony B
