This weekend I set out to clean the outside of my seacocks and replace one of the seacock handles. The handle is located on the seacock that is in the head. It's rusted and I thought it's time to replace it. There is a skrew in the top, that came out easily. That's where I ran into problems. I could not get the handle to pop off. I did not want to force it since my boat is still in the water. Has anyone taken this handle off? If so what is there replacement handle for this seacock and how did you get it off? I really did not want to force it. I am thinking, maybe I should paint it with a rust stopping spray paint. The photo will give you a good idea of what I am working with.

Mark, squirt some Liquid Wrench on the frozen...

part, tap on it with a hammer to loosen the rust, squirt it again and let it sit for an hour. You should be able to pry it off with a screw driver. Can you open the seacock or is it frozen? I've seen replacement handles at WM. Take the old one with you to match it up with the new one because they make different kinds. You might be able to clean up the old one and reuse it. Terry

Seacocok Works Fine

No problem opening and closing the seacock. I'll give the liquid wrench a try. I actually pick up a handle from West Marine but it was too small and a different size. Once I get it off it may be worth just sanding it down and painting it.
