Did you connect the antenna to the same port? If not, that will cause your error. Make sure you always connect the antenna to the same port when it was originally configured.

Did you save Com9 as you default com port in SeaClear? You might want to change the actual hardware comport in the PC.

Make sure the hokey puck is plugged into the PC

Right click on My Computer icon
Select Properties
Select Hardware
Select Device Manager

Find the Ports (COM & LPT), click on the (+) sign
Look for the device name and it should say (COM9) after it
Double click on the device name
Select Port Setting tab
Select Advance radio button
You should see the COM Port Number in a pull down box.
Pull down the box and find COM2. If it is not used or busy, you can select it.
Then click OK and back you way out.

Word of caution. I cannot guarantee this will work. Devices act funny when settings are changed. IF you do this and it does not work, you can always go to Control Panel and uninstall the device. Then reinstall it and all should be well.

Good luck

You need to get a antenna and receiver. Most of the "puck" type USB receivers will work just fine for you provided their drivers emulate a serial port. If the driver doesn't emulate a serial port, it might not be possible for the software to recognize it.

You generally also should have the USB cord plugged in and the GPS operating before starting SeaClear.
