Took the Catalina 380 out for a Sea Trial in San Diego harbor Sunday. I'm sure our handling of the boat led to some snickering on the nearby sailboats, especially after the broker bounced her off the sand bar at the end of the channel. We never got stuck but I'm sure others were wondering what the &*$% we thought we were doing. The admiral was at the wheel and he was busy explaining the secrets of the Dutchman mainsail flaking system to me when we felt the boat de-accelerate. He took the helm and gave it a quick spin so that we ended up doing a 180 and getting off the bar before we ended up stuck. At any rate, the engine ran fine, we had a chance to hoist both sails and then celebrated our final decision to buy with a sandwich at a local watering hole. We will close this week and rename her next week. New name to be "Perfect Match"
