Hi all,

I did an advanced search for Sea Talk and got a reply from 1999. My wind instruments were intermitant so asking a local tech about it and he said "Check the connections." The ST50 book said use Teflon grease on the connections. Sure enough a Q-tip with a little Teflon grease to dab on the pins got it working again. The little pin connectors aren't very robust. From the search I made the poster mentioned using tape to hold the connection. Seems like it would get sticky over time any thoughts?

I have had the same ST50 problem with wind speed. Which SeaTalk connection are you referring? Mine started when my New MFD was installed with the new SeaTalkng converter.

The little red 1/8" or .125" Fast-On/Quick Disconnect terminals tend to work a bit loose over time. They can be carefully snugged with a pair of pliers that can grip and pinch them evenly. Best just to re-terminate when connection issues begin. Biggest issue is finding small quantities of 1/8" female Fast-On's / quick-disconnects..

BTW I have those step-down butts for you but I see your wind tower is back up so I assume you found some..

What do those look like?

Tested my knotmeter and have 4.8 volts to the transducer and 4.6 when I turn the paddle wheel. It still reads 0.0 at the ST50 multi-meter (?). How can you test the ST50? The 5 pin plug from the transducer seems tight connected to the line for the multi-meter.

In the transducers junction box I have 4.8V on red and shield with power on. Then I had my wife turn the paddle slowly while I tested green and shield getting 0- 4.6V (on and off) as it turned again with the power on. I tried testing resistance on the brown and white but it didn't register (no power on during this test). I'll read that Raymarine thread again.
