We're having a problem with the electronics on our boat. They all have power but are not updating. Need help to verify the location for the Sea Talk Processor?

Please state your question specifying what instruments (make, model) and auto pilot/computer type. I am assuming you have a RayMarine system. The most likely culprit is a poor connection or broken wire.

Thanks for your reply, It is a RayMarine system and I want to check the connections at the processor but can not locate the processor. Thanks in advance for any input on the location in the Hunter 450.

What do you mean by processor? Each instrument has its own system. Do you mean autopilot computer?

Thanks again for your response! Must be the autopilot computer. It appears that most of the electronics go to a single location i.e. GPS antenna, GPS, Auto pilot, Depth sounder etc... All of these items have power but the GPS, Sounder and Auto Pilot are not reading (displaying).

The one thing in common for all of these items is the central point to where they are connected. I'm calling it a processor.

Is there a Hunter owner out there that may know where this processor is located?

Lake Sailgunner says, every seatalk device has a discrete signal input (depth, speed, wind, rudder angle, etc), and a seatalk connector for power and data sharing. Each works almost totally independently; it only needs power and the signal input to work. There is no central processor. It hard for the network to be down (disconnected) and still have the things power on. Them reading ZERO or --- for their default function is almost always a transducer signal input problem.

How many instruments, and which ones?

Thanks for the reply, after further troubleshooting, the components began working once the Depth Transducer was unplugged. It appears it has gone bad, PN Z217 ST80. Now I just need to locate one and replace it.

ST80!

A rare thing, the 80's DID have smart transducers, that where actually seatalk devices in their own right. That transducer talk to all devices on the net over seatalk. If it went 'crazy' or shorted out it could cause a network failure like you describe.

Thanks again for your input. Does anyone have a recomendation on where to locate a replacement Transducer?

I dont know if this helps but on my boat the smart pilot processor is behind the pannel where the radio is installed..
It is the place where all the instruments are connected too
my boat is a 2006 DS Raymarine e series stuff.
